我々日本人が太古の昔より愛し続けるもののひとつに、四季のうつろいがあります。
かわりゆく季節と共に、その折々の草木や空の色、風の匂いや少しずつ長くなる夜あるいは昼といった、
目に見えない自然の要素までも含めて、私たちは日々敏感に捉えているのです。
そして捉えた四季を日常に取り入れ、暮らしを彩る方法のひとつとして、私たちは「装う」。

日本人の伝統的な「衣」生活の要素のひとつとして「四季を纏う」ことをあげることができると定義して
私は制作しています。
しかし、忙しい毎日に追われて自然や季節に目を向ける余裕を失いがちなのも
現代に生きる私たちの事実です。

私が布を織るとき目指し願うのは、その布を纏う人に四季を運ぶということです。
織物と出会った沖縄の伝統技法や古典模様を基礎として、様々な場所で感じ・捉えた季節のモチーフを
取り入れ 作品化してきました。

例えば、ふと足を止めたくなる景色に出会う。
疲れても、うつむかないで。
自然がくれるエナジーを、見逃さないで。

我々の身のまわりには小さな感動が溢れているのだということ。
それを、私の織った布を見た人に思い出していただければ、と願っています。


  My productions are mainly inspired by the color of the nature.
The sky, the ocean, the river, the flowers and the leaves... the nature gives us great inspiration by showing amazing contrast and depth of their color. It sometimes makes us stop our talking, walking, and even crying.
I think that can be a healing for someone's tired heart, or can be a big motive power. But, the colors are so subtle and it disappears so quickly that difficult to find or catch them. And in our busy days most of us are just walk passing and missing those little tiny treasures.

I try to keep those colors and inspiration, which is a great gift from nature, in my yarn wishing that people who will wear my production could find the treasure.

When I choose Kimono as a canvas to express my emotion, it is not only for keeping Japanese tradition but also as a suggestion to have occasion to enjoy selecting colors more, in different way to select the western styled clothes.
